Oct 21, 2023 · There is no ethnicity that defines an American. It's simply impossible with our history and any sort of genuine adherence to the US Constitution. People not from here hear all the talk of race.
Black American is generally considered an ethnicity (more or less). A lot of indigenous Americans south of us are not known to be the tallest of people, especially those from the more mountainous regions.
American is a nationality. Said nationality has within it numerous ethnicities many of which have overlapping traditions and cultures, but it does not have a singular overriding culture that supplants.

German is the highest reported ethnicity but it dosn't make it true. Americans usually use the most recent immigrant of their tree to describe what they are even if it was generations ago. I never have.
